Serving customers in a busy branch and handling a wide range of postal and financial transactions accurately and efficiently is the core of this Post Office Counter Clerk role. The position suits a reliable, friendly, and motivated individual with flexibility for working hours, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Serve customers in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner
• Process postal, banking, bill-payment, and money-transfer transactions
• Accept letters and parcels and advise customers on suitable postal services
• Handle cash, card payments, and balancing duties accurately
• Complete identification checks and required transaction paperwork
• Promote relevant Post Office products and services
• Follow all security, compliance, and anti-money-laundering procedures
• Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming counter area
• Assist with opening and closing duties when required
• Work closely with colleagues to keep queues moving and deliver excellent service
• Complete all required Post Office training

Requirements

• Previous experience in a Post Office, banking, retail, or customer-service environment is desirable
• Strong customer-service and communication skills
• Confidence handling cash and using point-of-sale systems
• Good attention to detail and basic numeracy skills
• The ability to remain calm and accurate in a busy environment
• A dependable, honest, and professional approach
• Flexibility to work across the branch’s opening hours
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
