About This Role

Providing customer service by assisting customers with mailing services, processing transactions, and handling postal products is the core of this Post Office Clerk role. The position requires accuracy, attention to detail, and strong customer service skills within a busy Post Office located in Wales's most successful independent supermarket.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with mailing letters, packages, and parcels
• Sell postage, stamps, money orders, and postal supplies
• Weigh, label, and process mail according to postal regulations
• Explain shipping options, rates, and delivery times
• Accept and process payments (cash, card, or electronic)
• Track and retrieve mail using computer systems
• Handle registered, insured, and certified mail
• Maintain accurate records and balance cash drawers
• Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail
• Ensure compliance with postal policies and security procedures
• Maintain a clean and organized service counter and workspace

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Basic math and computer skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to handle cash and financial transactions
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift packages (often up to 50 lbs / 23 kg)
• Trustworthiness and reliability
• Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work

Nice to have:

• Previous retail or customer service experience
• Experience handling cash or point-of-sale systems
• Familiarity with postal or shipping services
