About the role
Backend Developer Portal and Web Applications
A senior developer with 10–14 years of professional experience in the analysis, architecture, design,
development, and deployment of enterprise-grade internet/intranet applications. Proven expertise in building
secure, scalable, and high-performance web-based systems, with a track record of leading complex portal and
integration projects end to end. This role covers all backend development and requires strong Java skills, with
additional web development skills such as REST, Python, Node.js, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS considered a
strong asset. The ideal candidate brings deep infrastructure, DevOps, and cloud exposure alongside hands-on
coding ability, and is comfortable mentoring junior engineers and driving technical decisions.
Key Skills and Experience
- Strong proficiency in Java with hands-on architecture and development of enterprise web applications.
- Proficient in developing RESTful web services and Login/Security portlets for enterprise-level systems.
- Strong proficiency in the integration of relational databases into applications.
- Strong expertise in HCL Digital Experience (HCL DX), IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS), and IBM
HTTP Server (IHS).
- Experience with clustering, security, SSL, load balancing, and performance tuning of enterprise web
platforms.
- Knowledge of Linux, Docker, Kubernetes/Red Hat OpenShift, Jenkins, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Exposure to Azure, AWS (must), or Google Cloud Platform for cloud-hosted or hybrid deployments.
- Competent in troubleshooting, monitoring, and optimizing web-based applications at scale.
- Hands-on experience with Git for version control and collaboration in distributed teams.
- Sound knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including development, testing, and
deployment phases.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior developers, review code, and contribute to architectural decisions.
- Basic understanding of Grafana for monitoring
