About This Role

This role as a Police Officer within the Secret Service Police (Uniformed Division) involves protecting facilities and venues secured for U.S. Secret Service protectees. It requires courageous, intelligent, strong, and determined individuals capable of balancing investigative missions with protective duties, ensuring trust and confidence in safeguarding critical locations and individuals.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard the White House complex, the Vice President's residence, and other designated facilities
• Provide security for foreign missions and embassies
• Travel in support of Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions
• Enforce mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship
• Current valid driver's license
• Must be at least 20 years old at the time of application
• Submit to a drug test prior to appointment and random drug testing while occupying the position
• Disclose any prior drug use, attempted use, and/or experimentation
• Automatic credit check after initial qualifications are met
• Carry and use a firearm; maintaining firearm proficiency is mandatory
• Not have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, unless a pardon was received or conviction was expunged or set aside
• Complete 13 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA or Artesia, NM
• Complete 18 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD
• Certify registration with the Selective Service System or be exempt, if a male applicant born after December 31, 1959
• Uncorrected vision of at least 20/100, correctable to 20/20 in each eye
• Lasik, ALK, RK, and PRK surgeries are acceptable if required post-surgery visual tests are passed (Lasik: 3 months, PRK: 6 months, ALK/RK: 1 year waiting periods apply)
• Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent)

Important Details

• Contract: limited-term Schedule B excepted appointment for 3 years and 120 days, with potential conversion to career status or separation upon expiration
