Police Officer

About This Role

This role involves performing law enforcement and crime prevention duties, controlling traffic flow, enforcing State and local traffic regulations, and conducting comprehensive criminal investigation work on special assignments. The officer ensures compliance with department policies and local, state, and federal laws.

Responsibilities

• Escort EMS to emergency calls and assist other emergency agencies as needed
• Enforce the laws of the State of Tennessee
• Enforce traffic laws and conduct investigations
• Complete State of Tennessee Accident Reports in a timely and efficient manner
• Make arrests and serve warrants
• Serve criminal and civil summonses and assist county deputies as required
• Enforce speed limits by radar and issue citations
• Respond to calls by Lifeline or other reporting parties to check on family members
• Complete accident reports
• Ensure orderly pick-up and delivery of money and reports to and from facilities
• Enforce the rules and regulations of FGCC
• Provide security for safety of all FGCC guests (property owners, visitors, vendors and employees)
• Maintain keys for all facilities and buildings
• Patrol Fairfield Glade area and conduct building and house checks
• Continue to acquire knowledge in the field of public safety
• Attend P.O.S.T. mandated in-service training to maintain P.O.S.T. certification each year
• Keep supervisors informed of problems that may arise
• File reports as required and keep daily log of all activity
• Be willing to change shifts or work any shift necessary to provide complete security of the Community
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Required in-service training courses in police methods, emergency medical aid, weapons use, investigative techniques, and related subjects
• Forty-hours (40) of P.O.S.T. certified training each year
• Basic Police Recruit School – Certified Officer State of Tennessee
• AED/CPR/1st Aid Training
• Obtain Private Special Deputy status as approved by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Understanding of administrative and clerical procedures and systems
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Valid TN Driver’s License
• TN P.O.S.T Certification
• Ability to sit, walk and stand for prolonged periods
