POLICE OFFICER

Duties

·        Perform investigations (e.g. collect and protect evidence, take statements, make diagrams, interview witnesses, etc.) to determine warranted action.

·        Utilize specialized equipment (e.g. radar, Breathalyzer, etc.) to enforce traffic law.

·        Respond to emergency calls, complaints, and/or other requests for service in order to resolve issues.

·        Use personal and/or electronic surveillance aids to monitor unusual situations.

·        Prepare documents (e.g. detailed reports, forms, and citations) to record all law enforcement incidents.

·        Provide testimony in court hearings to present details in support of a case.

Qualifications

In addition, your resume must demonstrate the following:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that provided knowledge of laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:  Experience as a Police Officer performing work responding to emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service during the watch. subdues and disarms those who are doing violence to other persons, assists the injured, and administers first aid. Gathers and analyzes facts, seizes and protect evidence; take statements, advises violators of rights, makes diagrams, interviews witnesses and determines whether facts warrant apprehension/detention or lesser action.

Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position.

REQUIREMENTS:

Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade.  All qualifications and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.

Selectee must pass a National Agency Check and local background check.

Selectee must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.

Selectee must obtain and maintain a U.S. Government emergency vehicle operator's license.

Selectee must be able to read, write and speak English.

Selectee must be 18 years of age.

Selectee may be required to attend the Inland Boat Operator Training Program or similar course.
