About This Role

This role performs a variety of law enforcement duties, serving as a first responder to incidents and a direct link between the department and the public. It involves investigating incident scenes, assessing appropriate actions, patrolling assigned areas, enforcing laws, making arrests, preserving crime scene evidence, and performing preventative community policing for diverse neighborhoods.

Requirements

• Must reside within 45 minutes of Eugene, OR
• Emergency response time requires reporting to work and being ready for duty within 45 minutes of notification

Important Details

• Schedule: various shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays; officers assigned to a patrol team currently work a 4/10 schedule

Application Process

• Submit your complete application as soon as possible to be eligible to receive an early invitation to schedule your testing
• Early applicants will be provided access to a paid practice test and a testing study guide, as well as the opportunity to participate in an ORPAT practice session
• Invitations to the testing phase of the recruitment process will be sent on a rolling basis to those applicants with a complete application who qualify
• The recruiting process takes approximately 90 days from the date of testing to the first day of employment
• Only one trip to the Eugene area is required for testing and interview for non-local applicants
• If successful in testing, interview, and background process, a conditional job offer will be issued before giving the option to return for psychological evaluation and medical exam
• Accommodations can be made if unable to return for the psychological evaluation and medical exam
