Duties
The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
- Use anti-terrorism measures to defend against potential security breaches.
- Protect a crime scene to turn over information gathered at the scene of an incident to detectives or investigators.
- Testify in court hearings to present details of a case.
- Conduct investigative stops on violators of traffic laws.
- Control access to secure areas by determining which vehicles or personnel have credentials for entry.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Apprehends personnel by the use of force or police equipment (i.e., firearms, taser, Oleoresin Capsicum (OS) spray); 2) Prepares police reports concerning incidents and actions taken; and 3) Responds to emergency calls for service while adhering to state and federal laws. NOTE: THIS INFORMATION MUST BE SUPPORTED IN YOUR RESUME TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION.
OR
Have successfully completed a four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in Police Science or a comparable degree program related to the work of the position. NOTE: IF YOU SELECT THIS OPTION, IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS WITH YOU APPLICATION.
OR
Have a combination of experience and education as described above which, when combined, is equivalent to 100% of the qualification requirement. Note: This information must be supported in your resume and you must also submit a copy of your transcripts.
Successful completion of a Federal, State, county, or municipal police academy or comparable training course that included at least 40 classroom hours of instruction in police department procedures and methods, and local law and regulations, may be substituted for a maximum of 3 months of specialized experience or 6 months of general experience.
