About the role
Performs activities related to installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing system.
This position is at the University of Memphis Lambuth Campus in Jackson, TN.
- Monitor plumbing work done by outside contractors to ensure compliance with University standards.
- Perform installation and repair work on special systems including high pressure air, water filtration, and commercial washers/dryers as required. Perform some minor general maintenance work.
- Review blueprints and inspects job site; consults with client; determines appropriate method of doing project.
- Troubleshoot problems in plumbing systems; replaces or repairs fixtures, pumps, drains, and hot water heaters.
- Attends meetings, briefings, and training classes to increase knowledge and job performance.
- Cleans work area; cleans and maintains tools and equipment.
- Estimate types and amounts of materials needed for job; orders materials.
- Install complete plumbing systems into buildings and in remodeling jobs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of appropriate experience. Must have Backflow Preventer Certification or obtain within 6 months from date of hire. Must have valid Driver’s license.
