About This Role
This plumbing role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing and heating systems in residential and/or commercial properties. The successful candidate will ensure all work adheres to Scottish Building Standards, UK plumbing regulations, and health and safety legislation.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain water, heating, and drainage systems
- Fit and service boilers, radiators, taps, sinks, showers, and associated plumbing appliances
- Respond to plumbing emergencies and breakdowns in a timely manner
- Conduct regular maintenance and safety checks on plumbing systems
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Ensure all work complies with Scottish Building Standards and UK plumbing regulations
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and issue service reports
- Advise customers on system maintenance, energy efficiency, and upgrades
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order
- Follow Health & Safety policies and risk assessment procedures
Requirements
- Recognised plumbing qualifications (e.g., SVQ/NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating)
- Proven experience as a plumber in domestic, commercial, or mixed settings
- Knowledge of Scottish Building Standards, Water Regulations, and health & safety practices
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Full UK driving licence
Nice to have:
- Experience with gas appliances (Gas Safe registration advantageous)
- Experience with renewable heating systems (heat pumps, solar thermal)
- Unvented hot water system certification
- Experience in commercial plumbing projects
Important Details
- Schedule: Occasional evening or weekend work may be required
- Other conditions: Participation in emergency call-out rota may be required
Working Conditions
- Field-based role across Scotland

- Physical work including lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces
