About the role
Duties
- Supervises and is responsible for the maintenance of the powerplant, dam, reservoir, and related facilities. This includes supervising a mixed crew of crafts consisting of electricians, plant mechanics, electronics technicians, maintenance men, etc.
- Supervises the operations of the generators, gates, valves, and related electrical and mechanical equipment and ensures that maintenance operational checks and operational functions are performed such as releasing clearances, performing switching, etc. As necessary, also performs journeyman level maintenance work.
- Plans work on a project by project basis (which ranges from several weeks to several months) to ensure availability of required resources and coordination with other groups.
- Makes adjustments in resources and work operations as required by unforeseen factors.
- Exercises broad responsibility for independently resolving work problems and effecting appropriate corrective action.
- Participates in the selection of employees, independently establishes work performance objectives, determines training needs, approves leave, counsels employees and maintains discipline and safe working conditions in day-to-day work operations.
Qualifications
To qualify as a Plant Supervisor II, you MUST meet one of the following: 1. Completed a formal electronics, electrical, mechanical or plant operator apprenticeship (provide certificate), and worked as a journeyman power system electronic technician, journeyman power system electrician, journeyman powerplant mechanic or journey plant operator for a minimum of three years.
2. Completed a formal electronics, electrical, mechanical or plant operator training program (provide *documentation), and worked as a journeyman power system electronic technician, journeyman power system electrician, journeyman powerplant mechanic or journeyman plant operator for a minimum of three years.
3. Completed an Associate of Applied Science in an applicable field of study (provide transcript), and worked as a journeyman power system electronic technician, journeyman power system electrician, journeyman powerplant mechanic or journeyman plant operator for a minimum of three years.
4. Worked as a journeyman power system electronic technician, journeyman power system electrician, journeyman powerplant mechanic or journeyman plant operator for a minimum of five years.
5. Completed a Bachelor of Science (provide transcript) in an applicable engineering field and worked in a powerplant for a minimum of three years.

Education
