About the role

Duties

  • Operates bridge cranes and other hoisting mechanisms for the purpose of moving, dismantling, assembling, overhauling and repairing of hydroelectric plant machinery and related equipment. Performs crucial picks and able to rig up to 150 tons.
  • Operates and maintains lathes, shapers, milling machines, drill presses and band saws. Reads and understands blueprints.
  • Performs maintenance on turbines, generators, governors, motors, pumps, bearings, eductors, valves, pipes, penstocks, air compressors and unit auxiliaries.
  • Skilled in the use oxyacetylene, arc, air-arc, TIG and MIG welding equipment and able to weld aluminum, steel, stainless steel and cast.
  • Must complete the Snake River Area Office sub-operator cross training program and become skilled in local powerplant operations. If not proficient in operation at the time of hire, provisions will be made for adequate training time, however operations is a critical element of the job and must be met in a timely manner.
