About the Role
As a Plant Maintenance and Safety Specialist, you will serve as a critical link in ensuring our operational infrastructure remains efficient, compliant, and safe. You will lead hands-on technical repairs, manage facility improvement projects, and champion environmental health and safety (EHS) standards to drive a culture of excellence.
Responsibilities
- Execute complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs to minimize downtime and optimize manufacturing equipment performance.
- Oversee facility maintenance projects, including coordinating with external contractors and managing project scopes and RFQs.
- Maintain building automation and security systems, such as fire alarms and access controls, to ensure site integrity.
- Drive EHS compliance by conducting regular inspections, managing hazardous waste protocols, and facilitating safety training programs.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to implement waste reduction and recycling initiatives that improve our environmental footprint.
- Manage inventory of essential tools, spare parts, and safety equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Support capital improvement projects from design and specification through to final installation and startup.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, engineering, or environmental compliance.
- Strong technical proficiency in electrical systems, HVAC, and building automation software.
- Proven ability to interpret schematics, AutoCAD drawings, and technical installation specifications.
- Deep understanding of federal, state, and local EHS regulations, including NEC and NFPA 70E standards.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to document project progress and compliance reports.
- Valid driver’s license and physical ability to perform active maintenance tasks, including lifting up to 40 lbs.
Preferred Skills
- Current certification or training in HAZWOPER or RCRA.
- Experience with ISO quality management systems and environmental auditing.
- Background in project management, contract negotiation, and construction oversight.
