Plant Accounting Manager (Lagunillas, MICH)

Summary

We are looking for a Plant Accounting Manager to join our plant leadership team and play a key role in supporting the financial performance of our food manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for managing, analyzing, and controlling plant production costs while providing accurate financial insights that support operational and strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate brings strong cost accounting experience, a hands-on understanding of manufacturing environments, and the ability to partner closely with operations, finance, and plant leadership to drive visibility, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and analyze plant production costs, including standard costs, actual costs, cost variances, yields, losses, and manufacturing performance trends.
• Lead cost accounting activities related to inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, and accounting reconciliations.
• Coordinate and support physical inventory counts, inventory reconciliations, and raw material controls.
• Partner with operations teams to evaluate production yields, waste, formulas, recipes, material balances, and line productivity.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities for the facility.
• Prepare financial reports, KPIs, and actionable insights for plant leadership.
• Support compliance with applicable accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities to improve cost visibility, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.

Typical Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Accounting, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Advanced coursework, specialization, or a diploma in industrial costs, cost accounting, or manufacturing finance is preferred.
• Advanced English proficiency is required based on business needs.

Relevant Experience

• 3 to 5 years of experience in cost accounting, ideally within food manufacturing or another manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory management, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold.
• Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial KPIs, and budget variance analysis.
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JDE, or a similar platform is preferred.
• Knowledge of Mexican Financial Reporting Standards is preferred for Mexico-based roles.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Required Certifications

CPA or similar professional membership
