About the role

Comfort Systems USA Shoffner is looking for a Piping / Welding Foreman to join the team in the Asheville, NC area. This is a permanent, full-time position. This position provides daily supervision, coordinates field activities, maintains quality standards, and promotes a culture of safety and teamwork. We are looking for someone local to Asheville. We are not looking for travelling tradespeople.

Your Main Tasks

  • Safety is our #1 priority. Ensure everyone is working in a safe manner and always wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Coordinate daily work activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Perform layout, installation oversight, and quality control of commercial piping systems.
  • Plan manpower, materials, tools, and equipment required for assigned work.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, timekeeping records, and project documentation.
  • Train, mentor, and develop journeymen and apprentices.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, General Contractors, and other trades to resolve field issues.
  • Inspect work to ensure compliance with contract requirements, company standards, and applicable codes.
  • Support project startup, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience Or Certification Needed

  • 5 or more years of commercial piping and/or welding installation.
  • Prior experience Foreman experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Working knowledge of applicable mechanical and building codes.
  • Valid driver's license required.

  • Be punctual and reliable.
  • Work in extremes of heat, cold and bad weather, indoors and outdoors.
  • Stand and walk throughout the workday, and lift/carry up to 60 lbs.
  • Work efficiently in confined spaces.
  • Ability to problem-solve and make decisions that directly impact the project.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Work reaching above shoulders, crawling, squatting, kneeling, bending.
