About This Role
This role involves civil engineering design for water and wastewater networks, focusing on hydraulic calculations, general arrangement drawings, and tender preparation. The position suits an experienced engineer capable of leading multi-disciplinary projects and ensuring designs adhere to industry standards and client specifications.
Responsibilities
- Carry out civil engineering design, including hydraulic calculations/analysis, civil general arrangement drawings, pipe longitudinal sections, specifications, BOQs, and prepare and review tenders
- Perform detailed design/engineering of water and wastewater networks (underground wet utilities) as per industry/client standards
- Deliver multi-disciplinary projects and coordinate effectively with other disciplines
- Ensure designers' duties under the contract are adhered to
- Perform required design activities associated with the project life-cycle in line with client standards, specifications, and codes of practice as checker or approver of designs
- Prepare and review various reports and other project documentation, ensuring all documentation is current, accurate, and in compliance with client requirements
- Ensure QC process is followed, delivering to the right quality and timelines
- Standardize workflows based on project requirements
- Drive innovation into designs
- Communicate and liaise effectively with internal and external clients, vendors, subcontractors, and consultants
- Recognize, define, and resolve problems within the assigned area
- Interpret design risk and assumptions associated with the project and record this as the project progresses
- Interpret and promote best practice in health, safety, and environmental matters
Requirements
- BE Civil
- 4 to 12 years of relevant work experience
- Good knowledge of the design process and engineering
- Experience of working on multidisciplinary projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good client liaison skills
- Able to troubleshoot and guide team members
- Proactive and innovative approach, and able to adapt to changing scenarios
Nice to have:
- Post Graduation in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Water/wastewater Pipelines and Networks experience on UK based projects
- Chartered Engineer or working towards achieving it
- Good Project Management skills and knowledge of project commercial issues and constraints
