Pipeline Controller

About This Role

Working on a diverse and highly trained shift team, the Pipeline Controller operates Marathon Pipe Line LLC's pipeline systems from a centralized Operations Center. This role involves comprehensive training to remotely monitor and control pipeline systems, offering opportunities to build industry knowledge and advance within the company.

Responsibilities

• Effectively navigate computer-based user interface or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) operating system to monitor and control pipeline systems
• Follow procedures to safely operate and monitor pipeline systems during normal pipeline operations including start-up, shutdown, flow adjustments and product changes
• Effectively communicate with field operations and third-party control rooms when affected by operational changes or while investigating alarms
• Maintain pipeline systems within a set schedule to ensure on-time delivery of customer product
• Recognize and respond to abnormal operating conditions
• Utilize training and procedures to analyze applicable data and direct personnel in response
• Pursue increased knowledge and understanding of operated systems and general Operation Center processes and procedures
• Use knowledge to suggest improvements and assist peers

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required (must be completed by the time of hire) or High School Diploma/GED equivalent with five (5) years of Marathon experience
• No experience required
• Basic PC skills
• Must be able to pass a color vision test

Important Details

• Schedule: rotating 2-2-3 schedule, 24/7 operations, rotating day and night shifts every 4 weeks, must be able to work up to a 12-hour shift, must be able to work weekends (every other weekend)
• Commitment: 5 year commitment to the Operations Center is required
• Travel: very minimal
