About This Role

As a military member, pilots in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) are in command of various types of aircraft used in diverse situations: search and rescue, fighter operations, transport, tactical helicopters, and maritime patrol. The core responsibilities include planning, communicating, coordinating, and executing tactical missions in support of civil authority or military objectives, such as humanitarian aid and disaster relief operations, as well as air interception operations.

Responsibilities

• Plan, communicate, coordinate, and execute tactical missions.
• Utilize precision navigation systems, advanced communication systems, sensors, countermeasures, and cutting-edge weapon systems.
• Attend the selection center for aircrew personnel to pass the selection test required for all CAF pilots, aerospace controllers, and air combat systems officers.
• Complete basic military qualification of 12 weeks at the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec.
• Undergo flight training at the Canadian Forces Flight School in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
• Participate in basic flight training, including survival techniques and emergency procedures.

Requirements

• Must meet vision requirements higher than other CAF groups; additional ophthalmological examinations are necessary.
• Candidates may wear glasses or contact lenses or have had certain types of corrective surgery but must pass specific vision tests.
• Must possess a university degree for officer training, which is subsidized by the CAF.
• Candidates need to complete basic military training and officer training before being assigned to operational squadrons.

Nice to have:

• Previous flying experience is beneficial but not mandatory for entry-level positions.

Application Process
