Physician Assistant - Surgical Fellowship

About This Role

This surgical fellowship offers new graduate and experienced physician assistants intensive, well-rounded clinical experience and training across numerous procedures and specialties. During this 13-month program, the APP will rotate through various surgical departments at multiple hospitals.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine physical examinations
• Formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients
• Develop plans for further evaluation of health needs in consultation with physicians and care team members
• Provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of practice as designated by protocols
• Identify problems outside of their scope of practice and refer appropriately to a physician
• Rotate through surgical departments including general surgery, trauma, thoracic, vascular, colorectal, and SICU
• Orient the following year’s fellowship physician assistants in the last rotation

Requirements

• Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
• Physician Assistant training
• New grads welcome to apply
• One page statement of interest in post graduate training
• BLS/ACLS certifications
• Unofficial graduate (PA school) transcript
• Letters of Recommendation one from each of the following: Program Director, Faculty, Physician or Physician Assistant
