About the role
Role Overview: Implements patient care plans under the supervision of a physical therapist, treating individuals of all ages. Acts as a clinical resource and role model for staff and students, ensuring professional service delivery.
Qualifications: Holds an Associate's Degree in a related field, and a valid Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license issued by the relevant licensing authority. Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days and complete required continuing education related to acute stroke care. Must pass the board exam when scheduled.
Responsibilities Include
- Educating patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare providers using effective teaching methods.
- Following and adjusting the therapist’s treatment plan based on patient response, with proper documentation and communication.
- Implementing intervention plans that focus on functional activities tailored to patient needs, monitoring outcomes, and modifying approaches as necessary.
- Accurately documenting care per organizational standards and collaborating with the healthcare team regarding patient progress and discharge planning.
- Providing education and training to patients and families throughout rehabilitation, and communicating any changes in patient status to the supervising therapist.
