Role Overview The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) implements the plan of care under the supervision of a physical therapist, treating patients of all ages.
Serves as a professional role model and clinical resource for staff and students.
Responsibilities
- Educates patients, families, caregivers, students, and healthcare providers using effective teaching methods.
- Follows therapist’s plan of care, adjusting treatments based on patient response and evidence, with communication and documentation.
- Provides treatment interventions such as therapeutic exercises, gait and balance training, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and aquatic therapy.
- Completes daily documentation, coordinates with the PT, and communicates progress and recommendations to referring providers.
Qualifications & Skills
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in Illinois.
- Associate’s Degree in Physical Therapy Assistance.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days.
- Strong communication skills and ability to educate diverse audiences.
- Ability to adjust treatments based on patient response and follow established protocols.
