Physical Security Specialist

Duties
The selectee will serve as a Physical Security Specialist in the Office of Technical Development and Mission Support, Technical Security Division. Typical work assignments include:

• Plans, organizes, documents and implements technical surveillance and mobile munitions countermeasures to ensure a safe environment for the protectee; and identifies specific requirements and correlates them with the planned movements of the protectee to ensure that necessary support and countermeasures are provided at the proper time and place.
• Performs protective advances and conducts surveys and analyses to identify how critical and vulnerable facilities or sites are and if there are any threats against them; adjusts plans and schedules; and develops acceptable alternative strategies in response to delays, sudden and/or major changes in itineraries or the introduction of critical intelligence.
• Provides educated and authoritative advice and assistance to USSS, White House Officials and representatives from other federal agencies and organizations on issues relevant to technical surveillance countermeasures.

  This position is covered by Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime (AUO) and additional compensation may be paid at the rate of up to 25% of the base salary.

Qualifications
You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting salary $66,510) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GL-09 level performing duties such as: leading technical surveillance countermeasures operations that include: radio frequency signal adjudication, computer and network inspections, electrical and physical component detection, and physical and logical telephony inspections. OR
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. OR
Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR
A combination of graduate level education and experience. This will be calculated using your résumé and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.
You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting salary $79,720) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as: managing technical surveillance countermeasures programs and projects that include: radio frequency signal adjudication, computer and network inspections, electrical and physical component detection, physical and logical telephony inspections; selecting, designing and maintaining technical equipment and developing processes and procedures for its use.

National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience)

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-in-Grade:
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service.
