Physical Security Assistant

Duties

As a Physical Security Assistant you will:

• Create ID badges and reports using automated ID media or badge system.
• Program key cards for appropriate levels of access to facilities and prepare time schedules for employees to access IRS space.
• Review ID Media inventories while maintaining access lists for buildings and employee records that document lost or forgotten ID Media records.
• Prepare security system reports, including what doors are alarmed, how many doors have been accessed, and who has access.
• Support higher grade specialist conducting post-award site surveys at contractors’ premises where IRS procures property and services and involves disclosure of sensitive and protected information.
• Assist performing less complex risk assessments of IRS offices, sites, and facilities determining vulnerabilities to threats and identify physical security controls needed to meet required physical security policies and standards.
• Aid higher grade specialist conduct surveys and compliance security reviews to evaluate effectiveness of the IRS physical security program at various locations and to ensure business unit compliance with security policies.
• Ensure all perimeter access entrances are operational and submit work orders as needed.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

GS-7 LEVEL: You must have one year specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Demonstrate experience using knowledge of physical security program technical concepts, practices, standards, policies, and procedures taking action, to resolve customers’ request for routine services; Experience using knowledge of Personal Identity Verification-Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (PIV-HSPD-12) and physical security system access controls, intrusion detection, closed circuit television systems, protective lighting, and perimeter security in order to assist in identifying security controls; Experience working with office automation to enter data in various automated systems, such as, electronic access, control systems and HR Connect updates for employee clearances, and reassignments. In addition, your experience must also demonstrate knowledge of analytical and evaluative techniques, qualitative and quantitative, sufficient to assist higher grade specialist identify, evaluate, and develop new security controls and experience using knowledge of physical security emergency management procedures to assist higher grade specialist resolve critical security problems and assist in implementing and maintaining emergency management plans.

• The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
