Description
St. Michael Catholic School in Prior Lake is seeking to hire an additional Physical Education and Health Teacher (.4 FTE, 2 days per week) to join its team of dedicated, collaborative, and experienced group of educators. As a teacher at St. Michael, you will feel welcomed and supported by our school and parish communities as we work together to make 2026-2027 an academic year rich in faith, joy, and learning.
Primary Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver thoughtful and effective lessons that engage PS-Grade 8 students in meaningful learning, while recognizing individual learning needs.
- Create and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning which supports St. Michael’s mission and provides optimal learning opportunities.
- Maintain an open line of communication with parents, students, colleagues, principal and all stakeholders around academics, behavior, safety, and school events.
- Collaborate with colleagues in grade level departments and throughout school to develop and implement positive behavior expectations and relationships.
- Contribute to faith community of school through personal modeling and active participation, such as conducting prayer, participation in religious celebrations, and teaching Catholic values through word and example.
- Maintain appropriate and safe conduct in the classroom and throughout the campus ensuring student safety and supervision at all times.
- Be present, ready to work and on time to meet all schedules and responsibilities.
Qualifications
- MN teaching licensure (PE and Health preferred)
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Proven working experience with elementary and middle school students
- Ability to plan and implement lessons with a focus on content and academic goals
- Ability to evaluate student progress and identify areas where further learning is needed
- Comfort with the use of a variety of activities, instructional methods, and technology to encourage children’s interests and motivation for learning
- Ability to supervise children actively to ensure safety through a range of activities throughout the day
- Completion of background check and VIRTUS certification (upon hiring)
