Developing and maintaining high-quality, scalable, and secure web applications using PHP is the core of this role. The position suits a highly skilled and experienced PHP Developer with a passion for building robust applications in a dynamic, fast-paced EdTech environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and secure web applications using PHP and related frameworks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to define, design, and ship new features
- Develop and optimize database schemas and queries for performance and scalability, working extensively with MySQL
- Implement and maintain robust APIs for seamless integration with various internal and external systems
- Write clean, well-documented, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to standards
- Contribute to architectural discussions and technology selection decisions
- Ensure the application scales to handle millions of users and massive datasets effectively
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends
Requirements
- Proven experience as a PHP Developer with a strong portfolio of successful projects
- Extensive experience with the Laravel framework
- Proficiency in database design and development using MySQL, with a deep understanding of query optimization for large datasets
- Experience working with live user bases, understanding the challenges and requirements of user-facing applications
- Experience handling and processing millions of data points efficiently
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and design patterns
- Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git
- Experience with Agile development methodologies
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- PHP: 4 years (Required)
- MySQL: 4 years (Required)
