As a Phlebotomist II, you’ll play an essential role in the laboratory and serve as one of the first faces patients encounter. Your expertise and compassion help create a positive patient experience while ensuring high-quality specimens are collected safely and accurately. You’ll work closely with patients, nursing staff, and the laboratory team to support timely and reliable diagnostic testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately identifies patients and specimens using two patient identifiers and labels specimens in the presence of the patient.
  • Performs venous, capillary, and newborn heel-stick blood collections.
  • Processes and handles specimens appropriately to maintain specimen integrity and stability.
  • Assists with receiving and delivering specimens to appropriate testing areas.
  • Uses laboratory computer systems for patient identification, orders, and specimen tracking.
  • Performs specimen processing and patient registration activities.
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of laboratory tests and communicates information to patients in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Follows all infection control, safety, and department quality standards.
  • May float to multiple locations and settings and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Phlebotomy or Lab Tech experience preferred!
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
