Phlebotomist

About This Role

Providing quality, proficient, and professional laboratory services to Lakewood Health System patients is the core mission of this phlebotomist role. The position plays an important part in the overall patient care experience within the system.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit problem-solving skills of a complex nature
• Participate in Quality Assurance, Quality Control Monitoring, specimen processing, and phlebotomy
• Provide customer service
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new procedures, products, and equipment used in laboratory medicine to act as a resource and provide clinical expertise
• Perform preventive maintenance in assigned areas to keep equipment in optimal working order
• Perform and report tests of waived and moderately complex labs, as defined by CLIA, on patients of all ages to assist with the routine screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries

Requirements

• High School Diploma required
• Demonstrates strong communication skills when working directly with providers, leadership, coworkers, and assistants regarding patient or testing concerns
• Assume the best in others and collaboratively problem-solve as a valued member of the team
• Utilize AIDET model of customer service to calmly and pleasantly interact with patients and families

Important Details

• Employment type: part-time with flexible scheduling
• Schedule: opportunity to work 12-hour shifts if desired, variety of shifts, and every 6th weekend
