Phlebotomist

About This Role

This phlebotomist role involves working with donors to ensure their comfort and happiness while assisting in determining their suitability and monitoring their health and equipment. The position requires operating automated plasmapheresis machines and handling donor reactions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in determining the suitability of donors
• Establish rapport with donors to ensure overall customer happiness while ensuring donor confidentiality
• Respond to and assist with handling donor reactions
• Monitor donor and equipment to ensure health of donors and quality of product
• Set up, disconnect, and operate the automated plasmapheresis machines
• Disconnect and dispose of all contaminated disposable equipment

Requirements

• Superior customer service standards
• High School diploma or GED
• Ability to work a flexible schedule
• An interest in making a difference in the world
• Obtains required state licensures or certifications where applicable
• Work is performed standing for 6 to 8 hours per day
• Bending and twisting neck and waist for 1-2 hours per day
• Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
• Ability to make precise coordinated movements of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects
• Frequent foot movement; may infrequently squat, crouch or sit on one's heels
• May walk up to 6-8 hours per day
• Light lifting of 15lbs. with a maximum lift of 50lbs
• May reach below shoulder height
• Hearing acuity essential
• Color perception/discrimination, near vision and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye
• Able to comprehend and follow instructions to complete assigned tasks
• Must possess the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
• Must perform within the guidance of both oral or written instructions
• Relates sensitive information to diverse groups
