About the role
Position Summary: Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist ‐ and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and the standard policies and procedures of the department ‐ assists the pharmacist in all aspects of the medication, IV solution, and pharmaceutical supply distribution systems.
Education, License & Cert: Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred but not required for hire. All Technicians will be required to pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam within 18 months of hire. On the job training will be provided along with educational materials to employees to support this requirement
Essential Functions:
- Procures and distributes medications per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established polices, procedures, and protocols.
- Assembles the required medications using required safe handling procedures for review by the pharmacist prior to dispensing.
- Compounds life‐saving IV medications, according to USP 797 standards including epidurals, chemotherapy, cardioplegia, hyperalimentation, pre‐filled syringes, PCA’s, utilizing Dispense Prep technology to ensure accuracy of final product.
- Stocks all automated medication dispensing cabinets and reviews current inventory to ensure that appropriate quantities are available to meet patient need.
- Performs all functions of Pharmacy related to medication management, storage, ordering, inventory and patient safety
- Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.

Participates in audits and other evaluation techniques to monitor regulatory compliance issues.

Travel to other Guthrie hospitals may be required
The pay for this position ranges from $18.00-28.29 per hour.
