About the role

Title: Pharmacy Quality Specialist

Duration: 4 months

Location: Remote in North Carolina

Shift Timing: 10 am - 7 pm

Job Description:

  • Verify member demographic information, provider and pharmacy contact information, and enter into the MTM platform as needed.
  • Contact members to introduce and explain the benefits of the MTM program and follow up as needed, and to schedule appointments for the MTM Pharmacist to complete the Comprehensive Medication Review or the Targeted Intervention.
  • Receive and respond to calls from provider offices, members, and pharmacies; make determinations of appropriate action required from calls and escalate calls as needed.
  • Coordinate outbound faxing and subsequent follow-up calls with health care providers.
  • Assess and interpret member needs and requirements, triaging to a clinical pharmacist or other areas when appropriate.
  • Support Medicare Star and other quality initiatives.

Hiring Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of experience in the related field.
  • Active pharmacy technician license in the state of North Carolina (PTCB: Pharmacy Technician Certification Board - Nationally Accredited Certification Exam), preferred.

Top 3-4 Required Skills:

  • Telephonic exp.

Nice to have Skills:

  • Certified technician.
  • Able to call the pharmacy to assist with getting refills.
  • Retail exp.
  • Medicare exp.

Years of Experience:

  • 3-5.

Education/Certifications Required:

  • CPHT and be registered with the board of pharmacy.

Industry Specific Experience – required, ideal, necessary?

  • Retail exp.

Breakdown of Duties/Typical Day:

  • Team reaches out to members who are about to go out of compliance on different types of medicine (diabetes).
  • The population of people being reached out to is going to increase, roughly 120 calls.
  • Very fast paced.

  • The most success have been people in retail pharmacy. They know how to talk to customers, know enough about medication, and can assist in high volume calls.

What does the training look like for this role?

  • Independent self study job aids and videos. Have a meeting with team leads to go over questions and have a live shadowing. Training is two weeks before it leads into easing into the day to day and platform.
