The Pharmacy Engineering Technician 3 oversees logistics, fabrication, installation, operation, application, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electromechanical machines, equipment, tools, motors and systems The Pharmacy Engineering Technician 3 performs advanced administrative/operational/customer support duties that require independent initiative and judgment. May apply intermediate mathematical skills.

The Pharmacy Engineering Technician 3 ensures maintenance and continuous improvement of quality and industry standards, evaluates mechanical products to determine cost effectiveness and efficiency, oversees and implements prescription drug distribution equipment and recommends design modifications to eliminate malfunctions, reduce cost-to-fill, increase throughput and improve quality, performs and Professional 4s tests of related software and equipment to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects, and devises improvements to current procedures and develops models of possible future configurations. Decisions are typically focus on methods, tactics and processes for completing administrative tasks/projects. Regularly exercises discretion and judgment in prioritizing requests and interpreting and adapting procedures, processes and techniques, and works under limited guidance due to previous experience/breadth and depth of knowledge of administrative processes and organizational knowledge.

Key Responsibilities (from Pharmacy Engineering Technician Roles)

  • Oversee logistics, fabrication, installation, operation, application, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electromechanical machines, equipment, tools, motors, and systems.
  • Ensure maintenance and continuous improvement of quality and industry standards.
  • Evaluate mechanical products to determine cost effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Implement prescription drug distribution equipment and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions, reduce cost-to-fill, increase throughput, and improve quality.
  • Perform tests of related software and equipment to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects.
  • Devise improvements to current procedures and develop models of possible future configurations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on electrical and mechanical equipment, devices, and components.
  • Troubleshoot and routinely inspect equipment and electro-pneumatic controls as necessary on automated equipment.
  • Install all new equipment including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, electronic, and computer systems.
  • Maintain an extremely clean work environment.
  • Reduce machine downtime, improve throughput, and overall performance of machines.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance schedules by thoroughly documenting all issues, repairs, parts used, recommendations, etc.
  • Report to Maintenance Supervisor on equipment condition and status as necessary.
  • Ability to work independently and possess a sense of urgency on troubleshooting and repairing equipment for minimal downtime.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation and Control Technology, or a related field with at least 3 years’ experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, 7 years of industrial automation experience with a 4-year apprenticeship in electrical or equivalent trade.
  • Knowledge in 3-Phase 480v electric and electrical equipment, AC/DC motors and motor controls, PLCs (such as Allen Bradley), prior and current NEC code, and use of test equipment.
  • Previous experience with robotics and highly automated industrial cells is desirable.
  • Computer and peripheral equipment setup and maintenance.

Pay Rate Range 33 - 38 USD hourly

Additional Notes The individual selected for this role will be offered the role as an employee of Atrium; compensation, medical benefits, fringe benefits and other terms and conditions of employment shall be presented by Atrium upon offer. The pay rate range provided is a reasonable estimate of the anticipated compensation range for this job at the time of posting. The actual pay rate will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, location and/or being pursued and other job-related factors permitted by law.
