About the role

Duties

The incumbent of this position will: 

  • Provide special scientific expertise in the area of bio-pharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics  performing pharmacokinetic analyses and applying in-depth knowledge of pharmacokinetics, physiology, and medical science.

  • Utilize knowledge compounding drugs; the formulation, preparation, bulk compounding, selection, dispensing of drugs, medicines, and chemicals; research and investigation in developing special vehicles or variations of standard formulas to meet the needs of individual offices and in developing techniques of compounding and making available for investigational drugs; advising on drug therapy and usage.

  • Make decisions concerning such things as interpretation of considerable data, planning of the work, or refinement of the methods and techniques to be used.

  • Create new techniques, establish criteria, or develop new information.

  • Utilize expert knowledge of broad operating programs to advise senior colleagues and agency officials.

  • Manage significant projects that represent an important segment of the agency's operating programs.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for Pharmacist, GS-0660-13, you must meet the following:

Basic Requirement for Pharmacist Series, 0660:

Education: Four-year bachelor's degree in pharmacy recognized by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education.

Licensure: Except for research positions that do not entail patient care, all applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia

Medical Requirements for Pharmacist Series, 0660:

Applicants must be able to distinguish basic colors.

Minimum Requirements for Pharmacist Series, 0660:

Have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 level or pay band in the Federal service providing professional in advanced professional theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods sufficient to conceive and apply experimental theories and new development applications to extend and modify theories, concepts, and assumptions scientific experience in the areas of pharmacokinetics, physiology, and medical science; experience with delegation of authority for Investigational New Drug Applications (INDs) and New Drug Applications (NDAs); using knowledge of the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act and other applicable regulations to perform work pertaining to human drug products.

Documenting experience:  In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description.  Experience that would not normally be part of the employee's position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee's supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment. The documentation must indicate whether the duties were performed full time or, if part time, the percentage of times the other duties were performed. It is expected that this documentation is included in the employee's official personnel record. In order to receive credit for experience in your resume that is not within the official series and grade level of your official position, you must provide a copy of the appropriate documentation of such experience as indicated above.

Education
