About This Role
This role involves providing professional pet care services in clients' homes or your own home, ensuring pets receive the highest level of care and owners have peace of mind. It suits dedicated individuals passionate about animals who want to make a difference in their lives.
Responsibilities
- Travel to clients’ homes to provide pet care services
- Follow client care instructions with attention to detail
- Provide photos and detailed updates for pet owners after each visit
- Walk dogs safely in private and public spaces (including larger dogs that may pull)
- Adhere to Fear Free animal handling and training principles
- Feed, administer medications, and clean up after pets of all kinds, including cats
- Conduct complimentary meet-and-greets for new clients
- Manage bookings, calendars, and client communication using online tools
- Provide in-home overnight care from 9 PM – 7 AM for homestays
- Perform daily drop-in visits for homestays (30-minute or 60-minute)
- Provide in-home daytime care between 7 AM and 9 PM for daytime homestays (minimum 3-hour duration)
- Provide dog boarding and daycare in your own home
- Maintain a safe, comfortable, and loving environment for boarded/daycare dogs
- Offer pet taxi services to and from clients’ homes if needed
- Ensure pets receive exercise, enrichment, and supervised playtime
Requirements
- Experience working with pets (professional, volunteer, or extensive personal experience reading animal body language and behavior)
- Eager to learn and grow in pet care knowledge
- Available during preferred time frames:
- Drop-in visits, dog walking, pet taxi: Monday-Friday 7 AM-10 AM, 11 AM-2 PM, or 4-9 PM; Saturday-Sunday availability preferred
- Homestays: Overnight 9 PM-7 AM, plus daytime 30-minute or 60-minute drop-in visits between 11 AM-1 PM and 4-7 PM. Daytime homestays between 7 AM-9PM
- Dog boarding/daycare: Individuals who are home most of the time, especially on weekends
- Enjoy working independently in an active, outdoor environment
- Detail-oriented, organized, and committed to providing the best care possible
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure a 5-star customer experience
- Understand that work may start slowly but will grow as the business expands, with summers and holidays being the busiest seasons
- Comfortable being an independent contractor, handling own taxes, work expenses, and materials
- Reliable smartphone for contacting clients, managing team calendars, and utilizing the booking platform
- Valid driver's license and a safe, reliable, insured vehicle consistently available for dog walking, drop-in visits, and pet transportation
- At least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
- Willing to submit information for a criminal history background check, motor vehicle records check, and work history verification, as well as provide professional references
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
