About This Role
This position provides personal financial counseling services to service members and their families at military installations, covering short-term, surge, and on-demand situations. The role involves a full breadth of financial counseling, including consultations, briefings, and referrals.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one personal financial counseling and related services, including consultations with commanders or other providers, briefings, presentations, and referrals to outside resources
- Work closely with installation and military branch points of contact to ensure programs meet installation needs and remain within scope
- Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences
- Develop, distribute, and coordinate informational financial materials and Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering the military lifecycle
- Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars
- Utilize virtual counseling and electronic communication methods such as secure online chat, video-based communications, and video teleconference
- Manage duty-to-warn situations according to DoD protocol
- Communicate with leadership, participate in regular supervision, and share information on trends and issues
- Participate in in-services, training, quality-improvement committees, and other contract activities as assigned
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; may consider associate degree + 4 years of experience or high school diploma + 6 years of experience
- Minimum 3 years of financial counseling experience
- Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required
- Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier2 investigation
- Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process
- Must hold one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
