Personal Banker

About This Role

Personal Bankers profile customers to determine their financial service needs, referring them to other partners when appropriate. They open loan and deposit accounts and are responsible for achieving individual goals, including loan and deposit production and other sales goals assigned by branch management.

Responsibilities

• Prove competencies in bank operations by:
  • Completing Sales Platform training as assigned by Consumer Bank Training
  • Demonstrating product knowledge, sales aptitude, and service expectations successfully
  • Executing the expectations outlined in the Branch Playbook
  • Becoming CARE certified within 6 months of hire
• Profile customers to determine and recommend appropriate S&T loan and deposit products
• Utilize all provided sales tools to enhance the customer experience and sales conversation, such as LoanFit and sales binders
• Complete the S&T Sales process and customer-focused conversation with each customer, documenting notes in the appropriate system for all bankers to view in future interactions
• Input loan applications using appropriate LOS software and coordinate loan document preparation
• Open new deposit accounts and produce signature cards, certificates of deposit, and other deposit documents
• Use a combination of CARE skills, product knowledge, and knowledge of policies and procedures to suggest additional bank services such as other loan accounts, deposit services, and insurance products
• Make referrals to Mortgage, Wealth Management, Financial Services, Business Banking, Elavon, Elan, Private Banking, Evergreen, Deluxe, etc.
• Contribute to Branch goals and sales and service standards as outlined in the branch playbook and detailed by Branch Management
• Execute professional sales and service behaviors in alignment with the Bank
• Follow up on loans and deposit accounts opened and correct deficiencies or document exceptions in a timely fashion
• Utilize the Sales & Service guide to complete proposed campaign calls on new and existing customers to generate new business as outlined in the Branch Playbook
• Assist, as needed, branch management in coaching staff regarding the S&T Sales process and expectations
• Maintain a good working relationship with bank employees in other departments and business lines
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, as well as motivated to work as a team player to contribute to the success of the branch and in turn, the organization
• Complete NLMS requirements as part of the S.A.F.E. Act certification
• Obtain proof of registration with the registry and verification of a unique identifier as established under the guidelines of the S.A.F.E. Act upon hire and/or prior to performing the duties of a Mortgage Loan Originator, as defined by the Act
• Maintain this registration annually in accordance with the S.A.F.E. Act
• Perform other duties as assigned, and as necessary to support the successful operation of the branch

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus specialized training or a two-year degree
• Two to five years general experience

Physical Demands

• Operates a keypad device: 70% of the day
• Operates electronic equipment: 10% of the day
• Operates office equipment: 10% of the day
• Standing is required 2 hours per day in a straight position
• Sitting is required 5 hours per day in a leaning position
• Routinely lifts up to 10 lbs., 2 times per day
• Maximum lift is 20 lbs., one time per day
• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Use of manual dexterity skills for typing and data entry up to 40% of the business day
• Specific vision requirements include close vision of 18 -20
• for computer work

Important Details

• Schedule: Monday - Thursday 8:30 am - 4:00 pm; Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (must be flexible around branch hours)
