Perfusionist

Role Overview This position involves providing cardiopulmonary and mechanical circulatory support for patients, including complex procedures such as support for heart failure, transplantation, and trauma cases. The perfusionist will operate and troubleshoot advanced extracorporeal support devices, administer medications, transfuse blood, and develop care plans tailored to cardiac conditions. Responsibilities include conducting cardiopulmonary bypass, supporting ventricular assist devices, managing inter-hospital transfers, and participating in education and training programs for staff and students. The role requires strong critical thinking, technical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment with a diverse team.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree; Master’s preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience; 2-5 years preferred
• Certifications: Clinical Perfusionist, Licensed Perfusionist, CPR
• Provisional or full licensure required; supervision experience not necessary

Key Duties

• Administer pharmaceuticals and blood products under physician supervision
• Develop and implement perfusion care plans for cardiac and trauma cases
• Operate and troubleshoot extracorporeal support devices
• Coordinate patient transfers involving mechanical support systems
• Contribute to staff and student education on perfusion techniques
