Payroll Specialist (Certified Payroll)

About This Role

The Payroll Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely employee compensation, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring compliance with payroll data. This position supports a culture of integrity and accountability by collaborating with team members and stakeholders to resolve inquiries and discrepancies, fostering positive employee experiences, and applying knowledge of regulations and company policies to minimize risk.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll transactions, including wage calculations, deductions, and adjustments, in accordance with established schedules
• Verify timekeeping records and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with organizational policies
• Respond to questions regarding pay, deductions, and related matters, providing clear and timely information
• Maintain up-to-date payroll records and documentation in accordance with data privacy and retention requirements
• Review payroll reports for accuracy, identifying and resolving discrepancies before final submission
• Apply knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations to ensure compliance and mitigate risk
• Assist in internal and external audits by preparing required payroll documentation and responding to information requests

Requirements

• 2 - 4 years of experience in payroll processing, payroll administration, or a related field required

Nice to have:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, a related field, or equivalent experience
• Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
