Payroll Specialist

About This Role

The Payroll Specialist runs payroll for the whole company and answers employees' questions about their pay slips. This role involves analyzing, auditing, and processing payroll and adjustments, interpreting operating practices daily, and serving as a crucial liaison between HR, Benefits, Stock, and Employees. The specialist will also manage the Payroll helpdesk, resolve issues, and support time capture system users and third-party service bureaus.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily payroll department operations
• Provide Payroll Helpdesk support, researching and resolving employee and third-party queries
• Process bi-weekly payrolls for one to two company codes/legal entities
• Manage workflow to ensure all payroll data transactions are processed accurately and timely through other third-party data exchange
• Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed report totals
• Ensure compliance with current regulations and internal policies in support of SOX compliance
• Collaborate with Human Resource and accounting teams
• Process accurate year-end reporting and address corrections when necessary
• Prepare reports for management, finance department, and other payroll customers
• Perform Intercompany Reconciliations
• Solve WFN problems and import data

Requirements

• BS/BA degree or equivalent
• Equivalent: 3-5 years of payroll operational experience in a Shared Service environment, specifically prior experience in ERP applications supporting HR, Time Capture, Benefits, and Payroll operations in a multi-state environment supporting multiple legal entities
• Solid knowledge of legislation and regulations for multi-state taxation and multi-legal entity payroll operations
• Experience with WFN and importing data
• Proficient in MS Office and familiar with payroll/HRIS software (ADP, Kronos, Workday)
• Current working knowledge of payroll best practices
