Payroll Specialist

About This Role

The Payroll Specialist runs payroll for the whole company and answers employees' questions about their pay slips. This role is temporary with a strong possibility of being converted, pending the candidate’s skillset. It requires exceptional attention to detail, urgency in execution, and the ability to anticipate and resolve payroll issues proactively.

Responsibilities

• Process semi-monthly payroll for all hourly and salary employees, ensuring timely and accurate payments
• Review and verify timesheets, ensuring all hours, leaves, and overtime are accurately recorded
• Audit timekeeping records for accurate pay and compliance with established organization standards and wage and hour laws
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices
• Reconcile payroll reports and resolve payroll discrepancies quickly to minimize employee impact
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters
• Partner with team members to coordinate benefits, deductions, and other adjustments
• Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and reconciliation
• Assist with gathering information needed for internal and external audits

• Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and master HRIS technology
• Associate degree in Business or related field preferred
• Minimum 3 years payroll experience preferred
• Knowledge of payroll processes and procedures
• Experience in multi-unit organization preferred
