Core Job Functions

Transport jobs are accepted and completed without delay. Appropriate equipment obtained prior to arriving to floor. Patient identifiers are checked prior to moving patients.

Equipment is checked before every transports to ensure safety and in working order. Equipment is cleaned per department standards between each transport. Unsafe or damaged equipment is reported to team leader and taken out of service.

Notifies appropriate caregiver of intent to transport patient. Maintains trip sheets with complete and accurate information recorded. Communicates any pertinent patient information to receiving caregiver.

Training is completed on all safe handling devices. Assesses the patient to determine the most appropriate lift equipment to use on a specific patient. Lift assist devices are used on all needed transports.
