About the role

We are seeking an empathetic, detail-oriented Patient Services Registration Clerk to join our team onsite at an acute care hospital facility in Baldwin Park, CA. Serving as the primary point of contact for members and patients in the Hospital Surgery Department, you will manage registration workflows, handle consent documentation, and process patient payments to support smooth daily operations.

Location: Baldwin Park, CA 91706 (100% Onsite – Hospital Facility)

Compensation: $25.00 – $28.00 / hour (DOE)

Position Type: Full-Time Contract (Possibility of extension and opportunity to apply for permanent positions while on contract)

Schedule: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM PST (Sun–Sat, includes rotating every-other-weekend coverage)

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Demographics & Registration: Collect and accurately enter patient demographic details into administrative software for the Hospital Surgery Department.
  • Consents & Regulatory Forms: Ensure all required patient consent forms and regulatory documents are presented, signed, and processed correctly.
  • Payment Processing & Cash Handling: Collect patient liabilities/payments and follow strict cash handling and reconciliation guidelines.
  • Patient Advocacy & Service: Greet patients professionally, verify identification, assess account/eligibility status, and deliver exceptional, rapport-building customer service.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Healthcare Experience: 1 to 3 years of related experience, specifically within a hospital registration or patient access environment.
  • Customer Service & Clerical Background: Proven experience in public-facing roles, reception, cash handling/reconciliation, and navigating multiple software platforms simultaneously.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Basic math proficiency, typing speed of 25 WPM, and 10-key proficiency.
  • Basic knowledge of third-party insurance verification processes and hospital registration requirements.
  • Experience with Epic EMR is preferred (but not required).
  • Workplace Standards:
  • Business casual dress code.
  • Paid employee parking available onsite.
  • Exceptional attendance and punctuality are required to support first-case surgical schedules.

Note: Candidates with prior work or contract experience in integrated health systems or hospital network settings are strongly preferred.
