About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to join our AMRAC team at Middlemore Hospital.

In this varied and rewarding role, you will work closely with the healthcare team under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Nurse Specialist and Consultant Physician to deliver efficient, patient focused services that support excellent clinical outcomes.

This role combines both clinical support and administrative responsibilities, contributing to a seamless and positive patient journey.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting the delivery of patient care and enhancing the overall patient experience
  • Completing clinical observations and assisting with patient assessments
  • Providing reception and front-line administrative support
  • Managing clinic appointments and patient communications
  • Supporting clinic operations and the wider administration team

The role offers variety and flexibility, with responsibilities changing across sessions, days, or clinic requirements.

This is part times roles, working 20 hours a per week, Monday to Friday. The days and hours are negotiable.

About You

You are organised, proactive, and passionate about delivering exceptional patient care. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and bring a strong balance of clinical capability, administrative skills, and excellent customer service.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Level 4 Health Support Worker qualification or equivalent (e.g. NCEA Level 3 or Level 4 HCA course)
  • Credentialing to complete clinical observations including blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation, temperature, and weight
  • Current or recent credentialing in 12-lead ECG recording
  • Current or recent credentialing (or willingness to gain it) in phlebotomy
  • Previous experience as a Patient Care Assistant, Health Care Assistant, or in a healthcare support role
  • Experience in administration or reception functions, including telephone management, use of electronic health software and appointment scheduling
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills
  • Motivation to recognise and address issues that impact patients access to healthcare
