Patient Access Representative

About This Role

This opening for a Patient Access Representative is the first point of contact for patients entering one of the company's facilities. The role involves providing excellent customer service, ensuring timely patient throughput, and accurately capturing necessary data. It suits someone with empathy, strong customer service skills, and an understanding of medical terminology who enjoys patient-facing work.

Responsibilities

• Play a key role in the health system and in providing excellent customer service while ensuring timely throughput and capturing all necessary data timely
• Greet all patients in a timely and friendly manner, treating all customers, external and internal, with the highest level of respect
• Provide a safe and secure environment for the patient during the registration process
• Clearly review and communicate all forms and obtain required signatures for services provided
• Ensure accuracy and thoroughness in collecting and documenting the patient’s demographic and insurance information and utilize available technology to complete the registration
• Participate in creating a positive environment for patient and colleague satisfaction
• Report identified safety issues such as hazardous environments
• Collect co-payments, issue receipts, and reconcile daily cash within the PFS Department

Requirements

• Be able to cross train at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch & New Center opening in Tinton Falls
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Strong understanding of healthcare operations and medical terminology
• Excellent customer service skills
• Tech savvy and have computer skills

Nice to have:

• Knowledge in all aspects of registration, Non-Federal and Federal billing regulations, and state programs such as Charity Care
