Patient Access Representative

About This Role

Working daily reports and account work queues to ensure the integrity of registration data is a core part of this role. The Patient Access Representative is responsible for the delivery of critical components of the Revenue Cycle, understanding regulatory compliance, maintaining patient safety through correct patient identification practices, and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Obtain or validate patient information and register patients into the software system, while providing a high level of customer service
• Ensure all necessary demographic and financial data are obtained and documented into the system
• Maintain patient safety through the correct patient identification practices
• Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters relating to patient PHI
• Work daily reports and account work queues to ensure the integrity of the registration data
• Handle patient inquiries related to registration
• Calculate payment information, accept funds and credit accounts accordingly for Time of Service collections
• Ensure EMTALA rules and regulations are strictly adhered to when registering patients through the ED and Obstetrics
• Complete forms and collect documents as needed based on the registration type

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (Required)

Nice to have:

• 1 year of Billing/Customer Service/Patient Registration experience (Preferred)
• Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) - National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) within 1 Year (Preferred)
