Duties
As a Student Trainee (Information Technology), GS-2299-04/05, in the Pathways Program you will work effectively with peers and supervisors. You will also:
- Adhere to the organization's rules, policies and standards of conduct.
- Make a genuine effort to effectively develop the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in the position.
- Complete all required on-the-job training, minimum of 640 hours, before or concurrently with education requirements.
Qualifications
Applicants must be pursuing a degree in computer science or related curriculum. To be acceptable: pursuing a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above or required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
Initial Internship positions, from this vacancy, may be filled at GS-04 and GS-05 grade levels dependent upon verification of education qualification requirements (below).
Requirements for Initial Appointment
To qualify for a GS-04: Completion of 2 academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
To qualify for a GS-05: Completion of 4 academic years post-high school study leading to a bachelor's degree or completion of 4 academic years of pre-professional study.
Note: An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or a minimum of 36 weeks at an accredited business, technical, vocational, or qualifying educational institution for at least 20 classroom hours per week. Pre-professional study is academic study, credentialing, or training beyond the post-baccalaureate level that prepares the individual to practice a specific profession. Examples include Juris Doctor, Master of Science in Social Work, or Doctor of Pharmacy.
Education
This position has an education requirement. You will be required to provide transcripts or proof of enrollment to support ALL your educational claims. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Part-Time or Unpaid Experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
Foreign Education: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
