About This Role
This role is for a skilled Parts Interpreter to join an automotive trading operation. The core of the job is ensuring accurate parts identification, ordering, and delivery, which directly contributes to the efficiency and reputation of the dealership.
Responsibilities
- Identify and interpret customer parts requests using vehicle identification numbers (VINs), part numbers, and technical descriptions
- Communicate with customers and technicians to clarify parts requirements and ensure accurate ordering
- Process parts orders efficiently and manage inventory systems to track availability and stock levels
- Verify part compatibility with specific vehicle makes, models, and years before confirming orders
- Maintain accurate records of parts requests, orders, and customer interactions
- Liaise with suppliers and manage delivery schedules to meet customer deadlines
- Provide technical advice to customers regarding part applications and compatibility
- Resolve discrepancies and handle returns or incorrect shipments professionally
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Parts Interpreter or similar role within the automotive industry
- Strong knowledge of automotive parts, vehicle systems, and technical terminology across multiple makes and models
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting vehicle identification numbers (VINs) and technical schematics
- Experience using parts catalogues and automotive software applications
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple requests simultaneously
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clarify technical information clearly
- Attention to detail and accuracy in parts identification and order processing
- Customer service orientation with the ability to build positive relationships with technicians and customers
- Proficiency with computer systems and willingness to learn new software platforms
