Job Description
We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic part-time tutor to teach high-school Physics, Chemistry and/or Biology.
This is a fully in-person position at Sylvan Learning of Erin Mills, located at 2624 Dunwin Drive, Unit 10, Mississauga, Ontario. This is not a remote or online tutoring position.
Responsibilities
- Provide engaging instruction in high school Physics, Chemistry and/or Biology
- Teach students individually and in small groups
- Support students with course concepts, homework, assignments, test preparation and exam review
- Follow established learning plans and adapt instruction to each student’s needs
- Explain complex scientific concepts clearly and patiently
- Monitor student performance and document progress
- Create a positive learning environment that encourages confidence, curiosity and participation
- Communicate student progress and concerns to the Centre Director
- Use educational technology and digital learning resources when appropriate
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree completed or currently in progress in Science, Engineering, Education or a closely related field
- Strong knowledge of at least one senior-level subject: Physics, Chemistry or Biology
- Ability to teach students in Grades 9–12
- Previous high-school teaching or tutoring experience is preferred
- Familiarity with the Ontario secondary-school curriculum is strongly preferred
- Experience supporting students with different learning needs is an asset
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without employer sponsorship
- Must be able to work in person at our Mississauga centre
- Must be available during weekday evenings and/or Saturdays

- Comfortable working with students individually and in small groups
- Proficient with computers and educational technology

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
