Role Overview: A Respiratory Therapist provides direct patient care related to respiratory services, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within hospital guidelines. The role requires independent application of advanced clinical expertise, serving as a resource to the healthcare team while ensuring patient safety through developmentally appropriate care and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively through documentation, handoffs, and team collaboration.
- Educate patients, families, students, and staff on respiratory treatments and procedures, utilizing diverse learning styles.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures per established standards, troubleshooting as needed.
- Demonstrate advanced skills supporting procedures like ECMO, mechanical ventilation, bronchoscopies, and sleep studies.
- Stay committed to continuous learning and prioritize multiple duties efficiently.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associate degree or CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program completion.
- Licenses & Certifications: Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT), Basic Cardiovascular Life Support (BLS).
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in related field.
- Experience: None required; opportunity for new graduates.
