Position Overview
The Assistant Department Deli Manager supports the Deli Manager in overseeing all Deli Department activities to achieve sales and profit goals.
They ensure staff perform efficiently, maintain safety and sanitation standards, and contribute to store profitability.
The role involves filling in for the Deli Manager when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow regulations, safety, and sanitation policies
- Assist in achieving financial targets such as sales and gross profit
- Accurately take customer orders for prepared foods and specialty products
- Help with weekly inventory and supply ordering
- Ensure proper product processing, packaging, and cleanliness
- Support paperwork and documentation for the Deli Department
- Participate in hiring, training, and scheduling Deli staff
- Perform assigned tasks from store leadership
Qualifications & Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2-5 years of grocery retail experience
- Basic computer skills, ability to read, write, and perform math
- Physical ability to stand, lift up to 50 lbs, and operate deli equipment safely
- Strong customer service and team leadership abilities
Environment & Additional Info
Work environment includes store conditions with temperatures from 50F to 90F.
Travel is not required.
Availability for morning, day, and evening shifts is necessary.
