About This Role
This driving role involves operating a small box truck to deliver goods efficiently across various routes, ensuring timely and safe deliveries while providing exceptional customer service. Responsibilities
- Operate and drive various types of trucks to transport goods and materials over long distances
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues before each trip
- Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
- Collect and verify delivery instructions
- Maintain cleanliness of truck and trailer during delivery work shift (vacuum, clean, supply parts, etc.)
- Perform duties in time balance accordance with Chicago, IL laws and regulations
- Perform other duties not listed here that are necessary and/or requested by management
Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial driving, delivery driving, or courier roles with a focus on box truck or van operation
- Proficient in heavy equipment operation
- Experience with box trucks
- Commercial driving experience
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks safely
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks; comfortable working in physically demanding environments
- Familiarity with mobile devices for route navigation and delivery updates
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of automotive repair
- Familiarity with regional lanes for freight transportation
- Warehouse experience and familiarity with warehouse operations
- Experience with load and unload procedures
